I am a qualified person-centred therapist and member of the BACP working with adults.
I believe that we all have times in our lives when our feelings, emotions and life experiences can become overwhelming or at least can impact our everyday lives.
As the client only you know how that feels for you. Counselling provides a space where you can explore how you are feeling, without judgment and others telling you what to do. A safe space to be with whatever is present at the moment, a place to puzzle things out, explore and experience your feelings, and their meaning, finding a way forward with less to carry, a load lightened.
As a person-centred therapist I believe it’s all about you the person. You, the client, are the only one who knows how it feels to be you. You are the expert in you. Your feelings and experiences are unique to you.
As a counsellor my role is to come alongside you as you go on an exploration of self (talk about whatever is going on for you in the moment). I won’t judge you or tell you what to do. I will be by your side as you explore whatever it is you want to. At times this may be painful and difficult, yet this experiencing of what is going on in our lives can bring release and create space for new things.
I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick. Whilst at university I gained my initial experience as a counsellor in the NHS. I have experience of working in a hospice setting, seeing patients, carers and those who have been bereaved. I also have experience of working in a setting focussing on pregnancy, early years and parenting. I am interested in us as human beings and the effects our life experiences have on our ability to live our lives to the full. I like to meet and see you the person rather than the labels that I believe as a society we too readily put on ourselves. I am interested in your story, your experiences, and your feelings and what it feels like to be you.
